Odessa's First Night
Well it wasn't the best we could have hoped for! We didn't get that much sleep and due to our lack of communication Odessa ended up peeing on the bed. Still Addy was much more interested in attacking Odie than us! So that part is working well.
When we first tried settling down, 'Dessa was huddling between us hiding from Addy. Addy was stalking around and under the bed making intermittent growling noises. At one point I felt I was being watched and looked to the head of the bed. All I saw was the torso and head of Addy smoothly sink below my level of vision, growling faintly. If it hadn't been so sinister I would have laughed out loud!
Eventually we got sick of the noises and Ben took Addy out into the living room with the cat box. This was 3:00 am in the dark without my glasses. I was under the mistaken impression that the carrier in our bedroom still had a cat box in it. Not long after, Odie started meowing and frantically searching for a place to relieve herself. I kept putting her into the carrier. I soon found out the inadequacy of this suggestion when she gave up and went on the bed. :P Hopefully that inauspicious start has not become a habit!

Welcome Odessa
In a desperate attempt to improve the quality of life for us and for Addy we have adopted another cat. Will two wrongs make a right?

Is this the Addy blog?
It seems like we don't have much else to post about! There's house stuff and there's Addy stuff. Oh, we did come up with one jokey name for her. We were rounding the corner to get into the car this evening and were ambushed by a dog named Molly (at least that's what the owner was yelling). The dog was pretty scary looking and we were joking that the dog looked more like a "Maulie". That evolved to Amalia (like "I'll maul ya!") and then Shamalia ("She'll maul ya!") and then it occurred to us that that would be a great name for Addy too. Also today when she was calm she reminded me of Audrey Hepburn. Addy could be short for Audry. Then in my obsession with 4-letter names thought it would be pretty funny to spell it ODRI. No one would say it right!
Anyways, the next video show's Addy's endless obsession with attacking anything that moves.

More kitty pics!
It's getting harder and harder to take non-blurry pictures of Addy!
Awww....
And here's her white spots!
She's got just about every type of fur and color available to a cat. She looks a lot like the kittens they're selling as Bengals, but as I've recently found out she's got the stripes of a Mackerel tabby. And at first I thought the long hairs had light tips but its a light band with a dark root and tip. That's the ticked type of tabby hair there are ticked tabbies with no visible stripes and that ticked type of hair all over. So bottom line, she's a facinating combination but about as mut as a mut can get.
We're wondering what color her eyes are going to end up? They're taking a long time to change...

First night with Kitty
Well our new little kitty (as yet un-named) seems to have survived the 4 hour car ride just fine. She crawled all over the bathroom with particular emphasis on the closed shower doors, playing in the litter box, chasing her tail, stepping in (as opposed to drinking out of) her water dish and batting at anything that moved (and many things that didn't). After about an hour of the above activities she curled up in the cat igloo and fell asleep.

Here are some pictures:
The back story is that she has an orange and white mother and a long-haired father and she was found as a newborn with three litter mates on Easter day. In the following weeks she has been raised and cared for by a family in San Diego and they already miss her :( . She's about seven weeks old I hear and was the first of the litter to leave.

Life after flood...
So yesterday we completed many small projects. Some necessary: like a new mailbox and house numbers. And some not so necessary. But one little project was very special. I'm sure it only took a couple of minutes to install but we have an original Quonset by the Creek door knob. Ben It is such a gorgeous knob and it means so much to have a piece of Young history in our little house.
